Medium-scale models consist of several hundred up to thousands of agents. Our aim is to create system that is (1) able to adapt to changing (economic) environment, (2) is self-organizing, (3) has effective distribution of resources, services, and goods among agents, and (4) decision-making is performed in accordance with general economic laws. At this moment, there are two main research scenarios set for foreseeable future:

  • Simulation scenario – selected region(s) is/are modelled based on real-world statistical data (from sources like Eurostat or Czech Statistical Office). This provides configuration input for model initialization and subsequent experiments, typically specialized on singular problem. This branch of research is more related to economic research.
  • Colonization scenario – agent community is situated in a new environment (randomly generated or based on geographical data) and has to organize in such a way that allows continuous existence and pursue of given set of goals. This branch of research is more related to research in AI and multi-agent systems.

Anylogic platform is our primary tool used for implementation (see www.anylogic.com for more details).
